20kW of solar and 20kW of storage across a Lapworth estate
A rural Warwickshire property on three-phase, with the array spread across several buildings.
Lapworth · Residential
We designed and installed 20kW of solar and 20kW of battery storage across multiple outbuildings at a rural property near Lapworth, on a three-phase supply. Site consumption fell by 40%.
The job is a good example of how we work: we presented three design options rather than one take-it-or-leave-it quote, and specced the right kit for the property rather than the cheapest.

The property and the problem
A rural home with multiple outbuildings on a three-phase supply — the heavier supply larger properties often run on. The main house roof alone couldn't carry a system big enough to make a real dent in the site's consumption.
The opportunity was the outbuildings: spread the array across several roofs and tie it back to the supply, rather than forcing everything onto one pitch.

Three designs, not one quote
We put three options in front of the client, each with its own trade-offs, and talked through what each would generate and cost. The cheapest wasn't the one we'd have fitted on our own roof, and we said so.
The chosen design paired 20kW of solar with 20kW of battery storage — sized so the daytime surplus from the array is held for when the property actually draws power.

The install: underground ducting and DC protection
Running an array across several buildings means moving DC power between them safely. We ran the DC in underground ducting, with remote DC protection and isolation — the kind of detail that keeps a multi-building system safe and serviceable.
The result was a system that cut the site's consumption by 40%, on a supply and layout that a single-roof approach couldn't have matched.
From the job

About this project
Can solar be installed across several outbuildings?
Yes. At Lapworth we spread the array across multiple buildings and ran the DC between them in underground ducting with remote protection. It's often the right answer when one roof can't carry a big enough system.
Do you work on three-phase supplies?
Yes. Larger and rural properties often run on three-phase, and this job was designed for it. Three-phase and multi-building sites are core work for us, residential and commercial.
Why present three designs instead of one quote?
One quote decides for you, usually in the installer's interest. Three designs let you weigh generation, storage and cost and choose what suits you — and it's how we work on every job of this scale.
Planning something similar?
If you've a rural property, outbuildings or a three-phase supply, tell us about it and we'll design around it.
